Lin Li heads the IP & Technology practice group. She handles contentious matters involving patent, trade mark, copyright and industrial design infringement and passing off including anti-counterfeiting actions. Lin Li is regularly engaged by clients to advise on cross border transactions involving franchising, licensing, technology transfer and transfer of ownership. A substantial part of her practice covers advising and working with local and international clients on the management and protection of their IP portfolio. She also advises on domain name issues and disputes and personal data protection.
Lin Li graduated from the University of Leeds with an LL.B (Second Class Upper Hons) in 1999 and obtained her Certificate in Legal Practice in 2000. She was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2001.
She is a registered Patent, Trade Mark, Industrial Design and Geographical Indications Agent in Malaysia.
She frequently speaks on franchising and personal data protection and writes for international publications on various issues pertaining to intellectual property law and developments in this area.
She is the author for the Malaysian chapter of The Franchise Law Review, 3rd Edition by Law Business Research and The International Comparative Guide to Copyright, 2016 by Global Legal Group. She co-authored the Malaysian chapter of The Life Science Law Review, 3rd Edition by Law Business Research, The International Comparative Guide to Copyright, 2017 and The International Comparative Guide to Patents, 2017 by Global Legal Group.
